Moving together from “we do not well” (2 Kings 7:9) to “well done” (Matthew 25:23).

Our Christian Journey: How Do We Do Well?

Missing Verses vol. 3

Growing up in a Christian Church, I’ve sung a lot of hymns. As mentioned in Psalms and Hymns and Spiritual Songs, music, especially hymns, is very important to me. For time’s sake, we would usually sing three of the verses (or sometimes just the first verse) even if there were four or five. While trying to find full versions of these hymns, I had some difficulty as, even online, these verses aren’t always included. Here are some of these “missing verses” that speak important biblical truths.

Just As I Am (v. 3,4) – Just as I am, tho’ tossed about, With many conflict, many a doubt, Fightings and fears within, without, O Lamb of God, I come! I come! Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind; Sight, riches, healing of the mind, Yea, all I need, in Thee I find, O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

‘Til The Storm Passes By (v. 2,3) – Many times satan whispered, “There is no need to try, for there’s no end of sorrow, there’s no hope by and by;” But I know Thou art with me, and tomorrow I’ll rise where the storms never darken the skies. when the long night has ended and the storms come no more, let me stand in Thy presence, on that bright peaceful shore; In that land where the tempest never comes, Lord, may I dwell with Thee when the storm passes by. ‘Til the storm passes over, ‘Til the thunder sounds no more, ‘Til the clouds roll forever from the sky; Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand, Keep me safe ’til the storm passes by.

Our Great Savior (v. 3,4) – Jesus! what a help in sorrow! While the billows o’er me roll, Even when my heart is breaking, He, my comfort, helps my soul. Jesus! what a guide and keeper! While the tempest still is high, Storms about me, night o’er takes me, He, my pilot, hears my cry. Hallelujah! what a Savior! Hallelujah! what a Friend! Saving, helping, keeping, loving, He is with me to the end.
